VALUE STATEMENTS

Having integrity is doing the right thing—especially—when no one is looking.

Inspect—and Do—yourself what you expect from others.

Own your mistakes & learn from them.

Sure. Go ahead & make a good first impression, but what matters is faithfulness & commitment to the long haul.

The client/guest is not always right, but everyone deserves our patience.

Say what you mean & mean what you say, otherwise don’t even bother saying a thing.

Hire someone with principles & a work ethic—then you can trust them with your business.

Nothing will happen until someone takes the initiative—and grumbling about it
does not count.

Wherever you are, be there (And, don’t whine about it either).

The greatest servants still make the best leaders.

To us, the Golden Rule matters: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

ALL people matter to God.

MRS. CARYL VELOSO
FOUNDER/LEAD INSTRUCTOR

  • Since 1998, Mrs. Caryl Veloso [or "Mrs.V" as her students fondly call her] has passionately worked as a mentor, tutor, educator, test-prep coach, and eventually founded Almond Tree Education, LLC and Almond Tree Writers’ Ink, LLC.

Because she saw a need in her children’s education, she began the journey of showing her students the joy of learning—thus the quest to engage their curiosity, their spirits, and their challenges. Eager to connect with their minds and hearts, she aims to show them learning doesn’t need to end in high school or in college; one can learn and enjoy new things even when they are old. Life and learning go hand-in-hand: immersing the mind with interesting subjects in our world can build and bolster the heart in so many ways. These gifts allow us to thrive.

More than this, she wants her students to feel that she is not merely helping them learn, but continuously roots for them in the many aspects of their academic life.

Currently, she works as a faculty member and test-prep instructor at REACH Tutorial, manages her family’s STR property, and operates her content development/editing company, Almond Tree Writers’ Ink. During her free time, she and her husband serve as Married Community Group leaders at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia.

    • ACT, SAT, PSAT, CLEP, SAT-II Subject Tests, AP exams, College planning (scholarships, testing, admissions, dual enrollment), High school planning (curriculum, career testing),

    • Cooperatives & Hybrid Schools:
      - Home Education Planning: organization, management, support, - high school transcripts: creation and editing, portfolios, record-keeping

  • Literary Theory, Prose Styles and Rhetoric, Linguistics, Rhetorical Studies, Communications Research, Comparative Literature

[Jeremiah 1:11-13 NIV]

The word of the Lord came to me,"What do you see, Jeremiah?"

"I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied. The Lord said to me,
"You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."

MR.JEREMIAH VELOSO
CO-FOUNDER/OWNER

  • Mr. Jeremiah Veloso has long been a staunch advocate for a sturdy & well-rounded education. He believes in the strong foundation of the Classical Method of Learning—as his mother (an educator & law graduate) exposed him to the trivium and quadrivium of the Middle Ages & Renaissance throughout his childhood. She would fondly call him her Renaissance Man as he became adept in all his many pursuits.

Since 1996 he has worked as a Physical Therapist, enjoying the fascinating and lovely patients he visits in the Home Healthcare circuit. He is prolific and fascinated by all the many marvelous ways the human body performs movement—how it recovers and heals.

Since his teens, Mr. Veloso has been an athlete. He has diverse backgrounds in the martial arts world: Kali, JKD/Sari-An, Kickboxing, Kempo, MMA, and BJJ. He holds a black belt in 3 arts and is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach in Ascension MMA.

He loves books and is a closet musician (only allowing his sons and wife to hear his resonant bass). For 10 years he played the guitar for a small home-church community in Augusta, GA. Despite his many talents, he is a quiet, no-nonsense, unpretentious man. Most of all, he is a faithful friend, a devoted father, a loving husband, and a follower of Christ. Mr. Veloso is a whispered blessing who has touched many lives.

In 1994, Almond Tree Education began from a quiet, echoed promise about the Veloso children that God would watch over them and keep their hearts and minds for Himself.

Out of the blue, the verse from Jeremiah 1:11-13 serendipitously came on a particularly hard day 18 years later, around the graduation season of their oldest son.

Years pass as their family encounters (yet overcomes) remarkable challenges. Through all they face, the promise lives in Caryl and Jeremiah’s hearts. They illumine and pass this silent prayer to the students who inspire them along the way.
